U.S. Land Office – 1937 · bronze plaque on the south side of Lake Street, east of Clark on an iron column, inscribed: “First U.S. Land Office – Near this site, the first United States Land Office was erected in 1835. It stood on the south side of Lake Street between Clark and Dearborn Streets. – Erected by Chicago`s Charter Jubilee – Authenticated by Chicago Historical Society – 1937.” [This bronze plaque could no longer be located by the editors as of 1998.]
